Four more villages in the Harborough District of Leicestershire went to the polls yesterday and adopted their neighbourhood plans with sizeable majorities. Harborough now leads the way in Leicestershire with nineteen 'made' plans and several more in the pipeline.
This also means that several adjacent parishes now have plans in force so can work together in the future.
Neighbourhood Plans are not intended to prevent development. Their role is to reflect the voice of the community in deciding how much development, its nature and location.
Well-written robust plans, coupled and a willingness on the part of developers, architects and neighbourhood planning groups to work together, can produce award-winning designs. The Knights Close sheltered Housing scheme in Billesdon is one outstanding example.
